Trafford Centre

The Trafford Centre, one of the largest shopping centres in the UK, is just a ten minute bus journey away from Middlewood. It features over two hundred shops, including John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Topshop, Apple Store and Selfridges, along with LaserQuest, Mini Golf and Bowling, and a twenty screen Odeon cinema. Worsley Village

The historic village of Worsley is just a ten minute walk away from Middlewood. Worsley Village was in 1969 designated as a conservation area by the former Lancashire County Council.

The area covered about 34 acres of land and included 40 listed buildings, such as The Packet House, a telephone kiosk, and the Delph sluice gates,but this list has since increased to 48 listed buildings. Click here for more information.

Manchester City Centre

Manchester City Centre is a twenty minute journey from Middlewood. The City Centre features the Museum of Science and Industry, Urbis museum, MEN Arena, Opera House, Royal Exchange Theatre, Greater Manchester Police Museum, China Town and The Arndale Shopping Centre. The Lowry Centre

The Lowry is a combined theatre and gallery complex situated in Salford Quays, a twenty minute journey from Middlewood. It features two theatres, a 2000m² gallery feauring 350 paintings by L.S. Lowry, and a designer outlet shopping centre. Click here for more information.

Go Ape!

Climb the trees and slide across high wires, crawl through tunnels, cross rope bridges, walk the planks and zip down to the ground! Go Ape is a wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, tarzan swings and zip slides, all set high up in the trees, located at Rivington. Scouts, Guides and other youth groups receive a 10% discount if visiting on a weekday.

Rivington Pike is also an ideal location for mountain biking and navigation activities, and for viewing unique landscape features such as the Japanese Terraced Garden on the Northwest slopes of the Pike.

The Manchester Velodrome

The Manchester Velodrome is the National Cycling Centre, Britain's primary indoor Olympic cycle track and widely regarded as one of the World's finest and fastest board tracks. Hour long track "taster" sessions for beginners with bikes and helmets provided are available with reduced rates.

Public Transport

Buses run between Middlewood and Manchester on average every twenty minutes. The duty warden will be able to provide details on how to reach off-site attractions by public transport, and bus timetables are available from the Warden's office.
